Engine engine number 9

Now from a different perspective...

I was somewhere in that clusterfuck of hip hop heads! One of the best parts of the whole RTB concert in Miami!

Just a little while ago I got an e-mail from a cat who's a regular to the site saying that he's confused about how to download Mp3's off divshare. If you have problems too, or are confused about how to download the divshare files, please let me know. If enough of you complain, I'll try to find a new hosting site which is easier to download. If you're wondering why I don't use zshare, it's because It doesn't work on my network for some unknown reason. But anyway, If you're having problems, drop me a comment, or send me an e-mail. Sorry for the inconvienice.

Keep rockin fresh,

New Jack Hustle

"2 It" - New Jack Hustle (Shawn Jackson & Newman) from Shawn Jackson on Vimeo.

So apparently 1/3 of my favorite hip hop trio (Newman of Giant Panda(who I've been listening to a lot again lately)) has hooked up with Shawn Jackson to create a duo called New Jack Hustle. The track is hot, Newman is probably one of the most creative producers out there, and Shawn Jackson really flows to Newmans beat. The video...well lets just say its a bit colorful, haha. Tres Records stand up!

Autobots, roll out!

I think this is appropriate for me haha. If only they had an adult medium...cop it here.

And for the ladies:hahaha, cop that here.

Manic Mondays #5: Hip Hip President

"I wrote this song from the perspective of myself running for the position of Hip Hop President...most people are aware that not only is the economy in a recession, but so is Hip Hop...album sales continue to suffer, while certain rappers(old and young)continue to put out terrible albums when they should retire...I have the utmost respect for the Hip Hop pioneers that paved the way for us...however,there are certain artist that have seen their day and although they have had their time to shine, they refuse to step down and let the next generation take over...I feel a song like this is long over due...most artist talk about this when I see them, but they are too shook to make a song like this because they are dick riders and puppets in this industry...but to be honest I never gave a fuck so here you have it...the undisputed who ever is presently in office putting out tired ass albums while killing the Hip Hop industry, step down." -K. SPARKS

"B-boy for life so fuck the suit and a tie"

People Under The Stairs have been on the scene for 10 years now, and have left their imprint in underground hip hop no doubt. The P have put out 5 albums so far, and are going for their 6th dropping this Tuesday. These cats have a distinctive style that no other artist can capture. Their albums have that laid back, cool out and listen feeling. Perfect to listen to for a variety of situations. Every time I hit shuffle on my iPod, and one of their songs come up, I get excited and break my neck to their unsurpassed beats and well written lyrics. You can really hear the passion they put into their music as well as the fun they have making it.

If you were to ask me, I would tell you that these cats are the embodiment of hip hop; every rappers dream. Lyrically, they have never spit a wack bar. Every track they put out is chock full of lyrics that flow and rhyme impeccably. Along with their godly ability for writing, they also have talent in making beats, especially Thes One, who has perfected the art of beat making. Their beats are self synthesized, and consist of heavy snare, ear popping bass, reminiscent samples, and the occasional scratching.

Honestly it's pretty hard to sit here and try to analyze their music, even if I am a huge fan. I'm genuinely at a loss for words for this duo...all I can say is listen to their music and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Good cop, bad cop

Another good cop gone bad movie featuring Edward Norton and Colin Ferrel.

22. Fredly Advice

By now you should already know that People Under The Stairs are one of my favorites. This is another classic Hip Hop album by the legendary L.A. duo. Released in 2000, this was their second full length album, and in my opinion is better than The Next Step (their first album) but not quite as good as OST. I've had this album for a long time, but I never really listened to it until now. This time around they come with the same chillness, but a slightly different feel than OST. There are a couple tracks that stand out more than others such as Youth Explosion, Earth Travelers (my favorite track), Suite For Creeper, Code Check, Blowin Wax, E Business, and July 3rd. If you're a big fan of PUTS like I am and you dont have this album, take advantage of this and download it. Amazing album.

Notorious Trailer

Not much to say about this one. set to come out 1/16/09. Looks pretty promising.

Clash of the producers

Madlib and Nicolay are two of the best producers in Hip Hop today. Recently Chicago's Primeridian hooked up with Madlib to make a track and later hooked up with Nicolay for a remix. Madlib Vs. decide! Drop me a comment and let me know which one you're feelin more!

Personally, I'm feelin' Nicolays version more...

What it do?

Yeah, here's another new joint featuring Talib Kweli, who kills the track, off Madlib's next album dropping on the 30th. Damn, the 30th is gonna be a bangin day for the Hip Hop scene.

More homework...

So I got a request for some new Language Artz homework (haha get it...), and lucky you I received something from them just a few hours ago. Peep the track, its a remix of SLU, and it sounds pretty good. Oh and Shogun told me to add that He bumps them all day everyday!

Language Artz - SLA (Supreme Language Artz)

Love Lockdown; Nero style

Sounds much better than Kanye's stupid autotune vocal douchebag machine...sorry got a little carried away. Props to Nero.

"Lets go to sleep in Paris, and wake up in Tokyo"

Finally the wait is over, the Lupe Fiasco official Paris, Tokyo remix is here. It's pretty good especially the few bars Lupe himself spits at the very end. Other than that the track is okay, I'm not feelin' Pharrell's part too much but everyone else is plays their part pretty well. Check out the track.

Lupe Fiasco (ft. Pharrell, Q-Tip, and Sarah Green) - Paris, Tokyo Remix

A mixtape with serious Naledge

Naledge - Welcome To Brainiac Society Vol. 1 (mixtape)

[Click second image for track list]

To start off the day, I think I'll post this little surprise Naledge of Kidz in The Hall just dropped for us.

Naledge explains:

"Welcome To Brainiac Society is a compilation or collection of music that I like, and that I might have made or contributed to. There's no real rhyme or reason to it. I think a lot of people got confused when I started repping Brainiac Society as my crew or my label cause I think a lot of people took it as a separation from Kidz In The Hall, which is not what it is. It's just me giving a platform to people that I like, and I want it to be looked at moreso as a Native Tongues type of thing than as a Bad Boy type of thing. It's just a group of people that make dope music and appreciate the artistry of Hip Hop and doesn't have to necessarily mean they are rappers. They can sing, they can make beats, DJ, whatever. It's about the creative renaissance that's going on within Hip Hop all over the nation. These are people that I met in my travels who I feel are dope and they inspire me. We just get together and we collectively make art...It's also a platform for me to put out Fooch who is my artist. It's no departure from Kidz In The Hall. Me and Double O are such creative beings in general, that we don't know how to operate without 30 things going on at once. We're very much multi-taskers and we've always been that way. We try to have our hands in everything."

With that said...

Back in the day...

I don't know about you guys but sometimes I get a little reminiscent of the 90's. When I was a younger I used to watch some baller cartoons after school, such as, Mighty Max, Bonkers, Goof Troop, TMNT (even up until 2003), Darkwing Duck, Tale spin, Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs, X-Men, Spiderman, Gargoyles, and my favorite of them all...SWAT KATZ. Later on I got into that anime tip, and started watching Toonami and DBZ religiously. They used to have some good cartoon's on TV back in the day...I really have no idea what happened.

So I log on today, and I check all the blogs that I follow, low and behold, I come across something new from one of my all time favorite lyricists; Jay Electronica. According to Illroots Just Blaze threw this sample up on his blog. Check it out, Jay Elec comes correct as always, with a beat that compliments his style. It's only 17 seconds, but 17 seconds is enough for me to tell that the full track is gonna be amazing.

Apani B. Fly Emcee is one of the few female emcees out there, and quite elusive I might add. I'm lucky to have come across this while surfing the web for new music. I don't know if I would call it rapping, what she spits is more like poetry. Her rhymes kick like crazy. I've been feelin' her lyrics since I first heard her on Nujabes' Modal Soul LP. She also caught my attention with that track she did with MF DOOM aka Viktor Vaugn Let Me Watch. Anyway she's an amazing lyrical artist, and her beats arent too bad either. Dont sleep on this!
