The Cool Kids performing “What It Is” with a fan (Alex) in Fort Lauderdale.

Unfortunetly I didn't even get to go, which really sucked on my part. It looks like Chuck and Mikey really rocked the show.

And for a bonus: Wakeboarding lessons with The Cool Kids and friends.

Manic Mondays #12: Visual Sounds

Damn, this one is wayyyy late, but here you go.

"Visual Sound is a song that tells two stories...the first story is about a friend of mine that was sexually abused when she was younger...the second story is about an individual that contracted HIV from unprotected sex...it's a concept record that serves a purpose...check it out"

The names Bond, James Bond.

"I don't think the dead care about vengeance..."

Well...where to start with this movie...Quantum of Solace isn't for the weak hearted. This movie is so action packed it basically could've busted the projector. The movie starts off where Casino Royale left off. The very first scene is a car chase along a mountain side, through traffic at that. To add to this Bond goes through various situations where he kills his adversary. If you haven't noticed by now, this movie is mainly based on revenge, which makes it that much more bad ass. Bond has no regard for life throughout the movie until the end. To add to the action, the movie includes land, water, AND aerial chases, which are all equally crazy! Daniel Craig has proved himself once again. He definitely fits the role of the bad ass woman charmer we all know and love, well at least to me. Older people tend to differ because they still see Sean Connery as the best. There's not much else I can say without ruining this movie for you...so just go and watch it already!

Be

Check out this original version of Be, produced by the late great JayDee.

Common - Be (prod. J Dilla)

There's alot of stars in this universe, but there's only one Kenn Starr

Kenn Starr - Starr Status

1. Starr Status (Intro) (prod. by Oddisee)
2. Against The Grain (prod. by Illmind)
3. Relentless (feat. Kev Brown) (prod. by Kev Brown)
4. The Same Pt. 2 (prod. by Oddisee)
5. Mr. Nice Guy (feat. Wayna) (prod. by Oddisee)
6. Middle Fingaz (prod. by M-Phazes)
7. U Will (prod. by DJ Roddy Rod)
8. Never Too Late (feat. Sean Born) (prod. by Kev Brown)
9. Carry On (feat. Supastition & Darien Brockington) (prod. by Oddisee)
10. Waitin' On You (prod. by Khrysis)
11. Inside (feat Wayna) (prod. by Illmind)
12. Back At It Again (feat. Median & M-Phazes) (prod. by M-Phazes)
13. Nothing But Time (feat. Oddisee) (prod. by Young Cee)
14. Another Day (feat. Sean Born & Chronkite) (prod. by Kev Brown)
15. Know Too Much (To Go Back) (prod. by Oddisee)
16. If (feat. Asheru & Talib Kweli) (Bonus-prod. by Oddisee)

So basically here's what I've been bumpin for the past couple days. Possibly one of the best albums I've heard for a while now. I was at a low point in my love for Hip Hop, and I was looking for something new to bump. I had lost all hope until I found this over at MS. Heaps said it made his top albums, so I decided to give it a listen. This is good music. Kenn Starr, with a style similar to that of Talib Kweli, crafted a masterpiece, with the help Kev Brown, Oddisee, and Illmind. Very laid back, hard hitting beats, with inciteful lyrics recorded over them. I reccomend this, get at it!

Get It!

Manic Mondays #11: Young Malcolm

Still a few days late, but I got my hands full guys.

"What's good street family, For starters I want to say congrats
to Barack Obama...this is a great day for all Americans that represents change...I don't say that just in regards to the fact that Barack Obama is an African American...I would prefer to emphasize the fact that he represents great progress along with the ability to unite people in a positive fashion regardless of color...This is bigger than race...The main fact is that I do believe this man has the ability to cause a positive change within this country and that is what is most important...Now I digress to my main point....This weeks song is Young Malcolm...This song contains exerts from a speech Malcolm X did...I always admired Malcolm X ability to say whatever he felt like saying and that is pretty much what I do on every record...this song is produced by T-Mos and it goes hard...I'll check ya'll next week"

Manic Mondays #10: Movin On

I know I'm a little late....but bare with me here.

“Movin On is a song that will also be on The Red Tape album myself and Kurser are workin on. We’re shootin for sometime in December to put that project out. Tina came to my studio and laced the hook, and as always Kurser did his thing with the beat. The content on this song is about movin past the negativity and movin towards goals that have yet to be achieved. Shout out to everybody that supports my movement, it’s much appreciated…I’ll check ya’ll next week” -K. SPARKS
